About

Dr. Marius Gensler

I work best where different specialist worlds meet.

🧠 Even during my studies I combined several STEM disciplines rather than committing to just one — and that is exactly what still drives me today: bringing together knowledge from natural science, technology and AI and translating it into clean structures.

🚀 I hold a doctorate in the life sciences, followed by three years of project and PMO work in a GMP-regulated mRNA environment: there I steered development projects across time, budget and quality, was responsible for a portfolio with a multi-million-euro budget scope and, in parallel as PMO officer, harmonised and automated processes across sites. Alongside this I consistently built up AI and automation expertise.

Thinking from research — methodology from practice.

⭐ I bring together scientific depth, regulated project experience and modern digital tools. My field: PMO, project, process and lifecycle management, AI-assisted automation and consulting-oriented roles at the interface of life sciences, medtech and technology.

Experience

Dr. Marius Gensler — CMC Project Manager & PMO Officer, BioNTech (2022 – 2025)

CMC Project Manager & PMO Officer 📊

BioNTech

Steering interdisciplinary development projects across time, budget and quality in a GMP-regulated mRNA environment. As the central point of contact I was responsible for budget and resource planning, risk and escalation management, reporting to leadership and compliance with EU/FDA requirements. In parallel, as PMO officer in the global PMO network: cross-site harmonisation and automation of processes with MS Project, Power BI and Power Automate.

Dr. Marius Gensler — Self-employed — Design, Web & AI Content, Marius Gensler Media (2023 – 2024)

🎨 Self-employed — Design, Web & AI Content

Marius Gensler Media

Part-time sole proprietorship in graphic and web design, print-on-demand, online publishing and AI-assisted content creation. Here I worked early on with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and LeonardoAI, automated workflows and built up hands-on implementation and AI skills.

Dr. Marius Gensler — PhD Student, University Hospital Würzburg (2018 – 2021)

PhD Student 🧪

University Hospital Würzburg

Doctorate in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine: 3D bioprinting of artificial tissues, development of custom bioreactors and a reproducible „one-button" manufacturing process for 3D organ models. Additionally reorganised internal lab and logistics workflows and represented the doctoral researchers on the steering committee of the TRR225 research consortium.

Dr. Marius Gensler — Research & Development, Fraunhofer ISC & IGB (2016 – 2018)

🧫 Research & Development

Fraunhofer ISC & IGB

Biomedical research in regenerative medicine, artificial organs and tissue engineering — applied lab work at the interface of science and industry, including in the context of bioprinting-based organ models.

Frequently asked questions

What value do I bring to a collaboration?

I combine scientific depth, regulated project experience and modern digital tools. I relieve project organisations by bringing standards, data and automation together — making complex, regulated undertakings more transparent, predictable and scalable.

What motivates me to connect disciplines?

I work best where different specialist worlds meet. Even at university I combined several STEM disciplines instead of settling on one — and that still drives me today: merging knowledge from science, technology and AI and translating it into clean structures.

Which kinds of work suit me best?

Translating between specialist worlds and methodology: building PMO and governance structures, harmonising and automating processes across sites, and developing AI workflows that measurably relieve project organisations.

Where do my strengths lie?

Thinking from research, methodology from practice: structured steering across time, budget and quality (a portfolio with a multi-million-euro budget scope), risk and escalation management as the central point of contact — and early, hands-on adoption of new AI tools long before they became standard.

Which soft skills distinguish me?

Communication across disciplinary boundaries: as a bridge-builder between departments, as the central point of contact towards leadership, and as the doctoral researchers' representative in the steering committee of the TRR225 research consortium. I work in both German and English.

Which roles do I see myself in?

PMO, project, process and lifecycle management, AI-assisted automation and consulting-oriented roles at the interface of life sciences, medtech and technology — preferably in regulated environments.

How do I keep my AI expertise current?

Through building rather than theorising: I develop AI-assisted tools such as the MaGe ToDo app with a built-in MCP server and automate workflows with agentic AI — the expertise comes from daily practice.
